5 Essential Tips from SEO Specialist
Mastering search engine optimization (seo) is a continous process. Even the new kids emerging freshly from those tech colleges offering SEO course may not have as much half as you know. That is, if you are an SEO specialist. Here are a number of things I want to share with you; things that make any SEO project yield, and none of them should be down-looked upon.
1. Invest time on Keyword Research
Search engines have over the years primarily relied on keywords to sort web pages. Not only SEO experts realize this; even PPC marketers do. Consequently, what has happened is that some keywords have become quite competitive, and clinching that top rank may not be an easy task. Doing an in-depth research on alternative keywords within the same niche is the only way out; at least in most cases. Otherwise it may not be worth changing a product because the keywords in that niche have been grabbed.
2. Content is King of your website
You have probably heard of this phrase over and over again. I can’t stress enough the importance of unique content here. As a matter of fact, search engines are putting more emphasis on this when it comes to indexing and ranking your web pages. This is because people have easily maneuvered their way out with other techniques, but when it comes to content, you can’t easily spam.
3. Use Search Engine Friendly URL
More and more websites are being built on Content management systems such as Joomla and WordPress. By default, most of these CMSs do not use conventional web pages to display content. They rather store content in databases. Therefore, when displaying content, they use unconventional URLs with characters that are not friendly to human. Search engine do not also like them. However, a CMS like WordPress allows you to convert the ‘difficult to read’ URLs to human (and search engine) friendly URLs.
4. Create Online Presence on Social Sites
Social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, among others, have of late become good platforms to build authoritative online following. So, if you are an SEO expert seeking to generate some potent traffic to a site, social media sites are something to consider. Some social media strategies do not require much resources. However, if you want some quick results, social media PPC is a powerful thing.
5. Get persuasive back-links
SEO expert and agencies do realize the potential lying in back-linking. In fact, I have seen some companies solely relying on building back-links to improve their rankings. Now, before you think of this, it is worth to let you know that it does not really matter the number of back-links you get from friends and forum sites, but rather the source of that back-link.
Websites with better ranking will give you more quality back-links than those that are not. Blogs are the ultimate sources of powerful back-links. If you have some friends running fairly authoritative to high-ranking blogs, borrow some direct back-links or comment in their content with your link inserted.
